Finding The Motivation to Stay Fit

Do you find yourself losing motivation with your workout plans or just trying to stay healthy? With your hetic lifestyle do you just don't care anymore? What is your motivation?

With my busy schedule of classes, work, and homework, I sometimes lose sight of what drives me to be fit. I do have a passion for staying fit, but my main motivation factor is that I want to still be able to play sports when I have children of my own. I have a list of goals and peruse them every week to make sure I am on track with what I want. Also, I have a dream to run the Boston Marathon, so I have to make sure I stay healthy and fit.

There can be many things that can persuade you to not want to workout, for example, frigid temperatures, festive foods, and too many parties.

According to Women's Health Magazine these are some things you can do to stay motivated:

1. Make a commimitment contract
2. Line up reinforcements and workout with someone
3. Make it personal

Worlds Healthiest Foods

I will eat healthy starting tomorrow. Does this sound familiar?

I have told myself that many times and yet junk food is at different times, part of my diet. It is hard with a busy lifestyle to be conscious of what you eat, but there are those who do it. Eating healthy along with exercise may help you live longer. I love to eat fruit and vegetables. I have researched many food websites to determine what are the healthiest foods I should eat. A website I found useful was The World's Healthiest Foods. It gives a list of fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds, grains, sea food, eggs and low fat dairy, beans, spices and herbs, poultry and meat, among other things that can serve as a basis for healthy eating. An example of the vegetables are:

What's your Workout?

Is your workout running, biking on trails, lifting weights, swimming, speed walking with a friend, playing a sport, or the many chores of cleaning a house? There are many ways that you can exercise while still having fun!

I love to run distance, but mix in lifting weights to strengthen the body, playing sports, yoga, and cleaning. It is fun to find a workout buddy who has similar goals as you. You can push each other and remind each other of the goals you set for yourself.

Every year there are more and more workouts and routines that have been proven to help strengthen your body and get you in shape. It can be even broken down into your body type and the results that you want. I have looked at many websites for workout ideas. My favorite site is womenshealthmag.com, and for the men there is menshealthmag.com. The site gives helpful information on fitness, eating healthy, weight loss, health, yoga, beauty, style, and life.

So, get started today on workouts that will lead to you a more healthy you!

Integrating Mind, Body and Spirit With Yoga

Have you ever just wanted to stop and take a moment to breathe deeply and relax? Have you ever wondered if there was something you could do to relieve tension or help an injury heal?

Yoga is a meditative practice that helps you to relax and personally explore yourself. It is a lifestyle practice mixed with exercise, connecting with your spirituality, and training your mind, body, and breath.

I have started using yoga as part of my workout routine to relax my mind and let go of all the tension in my life. There are many good websites that are available to help you get started.

Some websites are:

According to TheSecretsofYoga.com one of the most important aspects to remember no matter what position you choose is to keep the spine straight. This position of the spine is optimum to allow the flow of energy to take place. This neutral position is the most advisable position while meditating.

Game Day Foods

Its game day and the weekend is packed with action and parties centered on football. Many people like to get together and chow down during the games. Most often, the foods of choice are pizza, and chips or deep-fried wings. For those who want to change up the menu and save on fat and calories here is a fantastic recipe I got from Women's Health Magazine....

Grilled Buffalo Wings

1 pound chicken tenders
salt
ground black pepper
1/3 cup prepared Buffalo wing sauce
4 ribs celery, cut into sticks
4 carrots, cut into sticks
2 kirby cucumbers, cut into spears
1/3 cup fat-free ranch dressing
1. Season the chicken tenders to taste with salt and pepper.
2. Coat a ridged grill pan with olive oil spray and heat over medium-high heat, or heat an electric countertop griller. Grill the chicken, turning once, about 4 minutes, or until browned and no longer pink in the thickest part. Cut into bite-sized pieces. Transfer to a bowl and toss with the Buffalo sauce.
3. Place the chicken on a platter with the celery, carrots, cucumbers, and the ranch dressing for dipping. Serve with a good supply of wooden picks.
Makes 4 servings. Per serving: 218.9 calories, 4.3 g fat, 0.5 g sat fat, 19.6 g carbs, 7.6 g sugar, 4.4 g fiber, 28.7 g protein

Welcome Health and Fitness Enthusiasts

With all the craziness of work, school, or your everyday life do you find it hard to find time to focus on your health and fitness?

I am a college student who is used to late nights and stress. Somedays I am too tired to even climb up the stairs to my room let alone workout. I love to run with a passion. Running is a way to vent my frustration, anxiety, or just to have fun. My dream is to run the Boston Marathon, but its hard to find time throughout my day to train.

I am trying to balance my life out with healthy eating habits, exercise, and everything in between.
